Many of us grew up enjoy Ronzoni’s iconic tiny star-shaped pasta called pastina. There’s something really magical about fun shapes of pasta that will take a meal to the next level of exciting, especially when you’re a kid. For years, this beloved pasta was made in a plethora of ways, often as a fun food for infants, as a lovely addition to soups, and even as desserts. Now, Ronzoni has announced that it will be discontinuing pastina.

The company shared a post on its Instagram page that read: “We hear you and greatly appreciate your love for Ronzoni Pastina. After extensive efforts, we regretfully announce that Ronzoni Pastina is being discontinued. This wasn’t a decision we wanted to make. We haven’t given up, but as of today, we can no longer offer Ronzoni Pastina to our customers.”

The company said that as of January 2023, the long-term supplier it was working with will no longer be making the pasta, which means that the company will not be able to provide it any longer. While this makes sense, that didn’t stop many pastina lovers to take to the comment section to share their dissatisfation.

One person commented: “Who’s the long-term supplier? I just wanna talk,” while another said: “There’s still time to delete this and change your minds, Ronzoni.”

Shortly after the announcement, lovers of pastina headed to Petitions.net in order to beg the company to reconsider. The petition read: “Pastina is a huge part of our Italian Culture. Many of us were raised on Pastina and include it in our Italian recipes. We […] do hereby request that Ronzoni continue to offer pastina in the future.”

The petition has already garnered thousands of signatures, and people have shared it on their social media pages hoping to collect even more. There are also several other similar petitions on Change.org. Of course, pastina lovers were also quick to take to Twitter, the ultimate social media platform for complaints.

Some tweets included: “Ronzoni is discontinuing Pastina, and it is the straw that broke America’s back,” and Ronzoni is discontinuing Pastina, and it is the straw that broke America’s back.

For those who may not know, pasta company Barilla also has a star-shaped pastina, which can be a good replacement. However, we’re sure that many people will opine that it is simply not the same.
